The Airline Transport Pilot License program at Airways is conducted in modular form. This means that you may divide your training over a longer period, or add modules as you go along. It also means that you may add modules to an existing set of licenses and ratings with us, regardless of your previous training location.

MODULE 1 - The first step is to obtain a Private Pilots License (PPL) with night qualification (NQ). This is conducted under VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions and requires at least 50 hours flight training including 5 hours of night flying.

MODULE 2 - The next step is to gather flight hours and experience. You will complete 60-80 hours of flight time on your own under your PPL license. This portion may be accomplished through Airways or a local flying club. You will have continuous updates with a flight instructor to ensure that your training meets its intended purposes.

MODULE 3 - This module contains all the ground school studies for the ATPL license, including instrument and commercial. Our partner Flygteoriskolan at Barkarby airport provides ground school for all levels. During the ground school period you may continue the activities for Module 2.

MODULE 4 - During this course you will learn to master the aircraft without visual references under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). The course is conducted with an instructor in single and twin engine aircraft for a total of 55 hours.

MODULE 5 - The final part is where you earn your right to be employed as a pilot. The commercial license iis completed in VFR conditions and requires a minimum of 15 hours with an instructor. In order to begin training towards a CPL you must have 150 hours total flight time. To issue a Commercial Pilots License, the CAA requires that you have 200 hours total flight time.
